TEAMS is a competition for high schoolers run by Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) involving simple engineering problems in different sectors of engineering, based each year on a different theme. Teams of up to eight people compete by taking a two-part written test. The first part is a simple multiple-choice test based on dimensional analysis with equations and values provided; the second part is a similar but slightly harder free-response test requiring written solutions to be submitted.
Teams participating in JETS may be recognized for being among the top 10 teams nationwide in their division – there are eight Varsity divisions for teams with seniors and eight Junior Varsity divisions for teams without seniors. Additionally, Stanford’s Society of Women Engineers recognizes the best-performing teams at the local competition.
Mission San Jose currently has no JETS teams. If you are interested in the competition, feel free to send the club an email.
